Move into Main building delayed. Final move slated for Columbus Day weekend.

The school is putting into print two policies that we have had in practice, but not yet formalized in writing. We have written up a “soft-lockdown” policy, which was first put into practice in 2009-2010. We have also developed what we are calling the “95º” degree rule, in which we will adjust recess and PE in response to extended temperatures which exceed 95 degrees.

Dear Faith Family,

To quote the Fresh Beat Band: “Here we go!” November is here and at full speed. The cross-country sectional meet was yesterday and five athletes qualified for the state meet next week. Rebecca Harvey, Peck Mallory, Chase Robinson, John Bell and Will Milner all qualified. Today is our high school drama production of Soldier Scripts and I encourage you to attend the evening performance. One of our seniors, Brent Borrelli, and one of our faculty members, Ms. Beverly Haynes, wrote the drama about the World War II era. Many of our high school students are involved in the production. Admission is $6.00 and begins at 7:00 p.m. No reservations are required.

November also brings fall athletic awards, several field trips, the cross-country state meet, the kickoff of the basketball season, and Grandparents’ Day.

VERY IMPORTANT: Grandparents can only sign out students if their names are on the Emergency Card on file in the office or if we have a permission form signed by the parents. (These are being sent home in student folders) Photo packages of grandparents and grandchildren will be available for $15. Those pictures will be taken in the gym where there will also be refreshments.

Faith Christian School is a ministry of Faith Presbyterian Church of Anniston, Alabama. Its purpose is to give the youth of the church and the vicinity quality instruction in subjects usually taught in public schools, together with specific Bible instruction and Christian standards for life. It is aboard-governed school accredited by SACS and is a member of ACSI. Faith Christian School participates in AHSAA and Calhoun County athletics. The pastor of FPC is Rev. Rick Searle. The chairman of the school board is Dr. Boyce Callahan. The headmaster of FCS is Mr. Ryan Todt.

The faculty, staff, administration and School Board of Faith Christian School happily extend their greetings to you, the parents and students. It is by the rich mercies of God that we can provide for your child an education that is truly excellent. Faith offers education that helps your child grasp the truth of God’s Word when it says…”that He Himself (Christ) might come to have first place in everything.” Our aim is to help each student to subject his/her thinking to the Word of God in all academic areas: everything from the colors of the rainbow to the anthologies of English Literature. As it has been put, “if God is not behind every fact in the universe, then there is no unity to the child’s education or the world in which he is to live.” You have come to a school that takes this aim very seriously and prays daily for your child to grow in true wisdom and understanding.

ABOUT FCS ( ON ABOUT PAGE )

From the very beginning of Faith Presbyterian Church in 1973, the officers and founding members of the church had a vision to start and support a Christian Day school. In 1978, that vision became a reality when Mr. Bill Lanier became the first headmaster and the school began with a Kindergarten and a first grade.

The 1979-80 school year started with the addition of the 2nd and 3rd grades. In the fall of the 1981, grades 4 and 5 were added and there was a total of 54 students in the k-5 school. By August of 1982, the enrollment was at 105 students and the congregation saw the need for additional facilities as a grade was being added each year. A second building was started but was not completed for grades K-8. The school was jammed into every available space that included temporary space that had been setup in the sanctuary.

Two days after the opening of school in 1983, the church and school had to relocate due to the damage done by two arsonists. Golden Springs Baptist Church very graciously offered their educational building for school classes during the weekdays and their sanctuary for worship on Sunday afternoons. On December 4th, the congregation was able to return and the students were able to return to their campus in the following January.

In 1985, Mr. Lanier resigned as Headmaster. For the next two years, several teachers shared the administrative duties. In the summer of 1986, David Haynes was called as headmaster. By August of 1989 there were 100 students and 9 teachers in K-8. The school grades were held at the 8th grade level until 1996 when the congregation voted to expand the school into the high school grades. A gym was constructed that included some new classrooms allowing for a 9th and 10th grade to be added. Mike Hall was called as Headmaster early in 1996 and served for one year. In July of 1997, Dr. Bn Character joined the school staff as headmaster and the 11th grade was added. The position of Assistant Headmaster was filled by David Haynes.

In 1997, construction on the East Wing began and was ready for the 1998 school year.

In 1998, the school had 295 students in K-12, 19 teachers and coaches, a guidance counsellor and graduated 10 seniors in the spring of 1999. Accreditation with SACS was applied for and granted in 2002 and the school subsequently joined the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

In 2007, ground was broken to begin the final school building. Mr. Ryan W. Todt was hired to fill the role Assistant Headmaster.

In 2008, the board voted to expand to the Kindergarten to include a PreK as well as a regular Kindergarten.

In 2010, Dr. Character stepped down as Headmaster and gave all of his attention to advancement, capital campaigns and financial accounting for the school. Mr. Ryan W. Todt was hired as the school’s Headmaster.

In 2011, Erik McDaniel, assistant pastor at Faith Presbyterian Church was hired as the Assistant to the Headmaster of the school. The school offices relocated the music program and the offices from the sanctuary building to the Main building. A large multi-purpose room and 7 classrooms remain incomplete at this time. The school began a campaign to expand and improve the athletic fields to support the growing spring sports programs. The school enrolls 297 students in PreK-12 and has about 40 full time teachers and support personnel as well as three part-time support personnel.

In 2008, the board voted to expand the kindergarten to include a Pre-K as well as a regular kindergarten.

In 2010, Dr. Character’s role changed to focus on advancement, capital campaigns and financial accounting for the school. Mr. Ryan W. Todt, assistant headmaster for two years, became headmaster and remained in that position until January 2012. Currently, Mr. Robert Phillips is the headmaster.

The current capital campaign focuses on expanding and improving the athletic fields to support the growing spring sports programs. The 2011-2012 school year enrollment is 297 students in PreK-12 with about 40 full-time teachers and support personnel as well as three part-time support personnel.

Tuition Schedule 2012-2013

The following tuition structure will be in place for the school year 2012-2013. Please be aware that timely payment of tuition is absolutely necessary in order for the child to remain an actively enrolled student at Faith Christian School. The enrollment fee must accompany applications.

2012-2013 Re-Enrollment Fee

The enrollment fees are not refundable! This guarantees that we will hold a slot for your child at Faith Christian School. Please read the Financial Commitment Statement carefully.

January and February: Open enrollment for current students. No Re-Enrollment accepted prior to January 2, 2012.

March 1st: Enrollment opens to all. Applicants may submit application forms which will be coded with date of application. Preference will be given to those whose student meets entrance criteria and will be considered in the order they were received.

Monthly Payment Schedule

Monthly tuition is based on a 10 month payment plan beginning on June 1 and does not include the months of February and May.

Operated under the authority of the Faith Presbyterian Church Session and the Faith Christian School Board, we have students representing a wide variety of Christian denominations. However, a common philosophy shared by all members of the Faith Christian School family is our belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for our sins and arose from the dead to save us with his loving grace.

It is my humble opinion that it is our shared mission as Christians which makes our school a special place. Students, teachers, staff, and parents are motivated to strive to be our very best in order to attempt to fulfill the expectations of God to whom we have dedicated our lives.
